The Network of International Business Schools (NIBS) organises case competitions since 1996, and this makes the NIBS case competition one of the oldest and most renowned undergraduate case competitions in the world.
A Qualifying Round is held in November, involving a written submission of a case solution prepared at teams’ home universities and evaluated by an expert panel. The top 16 finishers are invited to compete in the NIBS Championship Round in spring, held at a host school selected by the NIBS Board. First, 4 divisions are formed, the best 2 of which advance to the quarter-finals. This is followed by the semi-finals and the final. In this way a team always plays a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 matches. Over and above the unique learning opportunity and intense competition, Championship Round participants enjoy an unparalleled cultural and social experience that gives them the opportunity to develop their international network.
Locations have included Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Guatemala, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the UK, and the United States. All NIBS member institutions are eligible to enter the competition; Rotterdam University AS is a NIBS member.
