From 13 till 18 November, 16 highly qualified teams from universities all over the globe competed in the Rotterdam-Carleton International Case Competition. The opening including the draw took place on Sunday afternoon and in the following days the teams had to solve several business problems, every day a new challenge. Wicked and thought-provoking challenges provided by Florensis, Kanata North and Vebego. During case solving time all teams got the unique opportunity to speak with to the CEO’s of these companies. After six hours they had to present and defend their solutions in front of a professional jury panel.
After three days of intense matches the best 6 teams proceeded to the Finals on Friday : Wilfried Laurier University, Heilbronn University, Technological University of Dublin, Chinese University of Hongkong, Erasmus University and University of Vermont. This time Siemens was the company they had to deal with, a very tough problem regarding sustainability. Friday night, at the Gala & Award ceremony on the SS Rotterdam, the winner was announced: University of Vermont. A well-deserved victory.
Next year ROCA will be organised by our partner, the Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Preparations have already begun …
