Bronze for Rotterdam!
Lucia Tarro, Marcel Bick, Maximilian Meschkov and Nikita Voronkov, students from our Business School (HRBS and RBS) and all four participating in the case-based semester Agile Consulting, won bronze last week in the highly prestigious case competition of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Only top universities are invited for this event, and participating was already a great honour. But when Rotterdam finished third in the first case match (3 hours), Nikita, Maximilian, Lucia and Marcel started to believe in a miracle.
On Wednesday and Thursday, they locked themselves in for 22 hours and worked very hard on analysis, choice of the right solution and implementation of their plans. The result: a place among the best four and with that Rotterdam was in the final. There, our students had to present their solution again. The coaches, Britta and Hans from the Rotterdam International case Academy, were just as nervous, but contact with the team was forbidden. At the very end of Friday afternoon, when it was almost night in Hongkong, the result came: Bronze for Rotterdam.
Of course, Lucia, Maximilian, Nikita and Marcel went through the roof. And that was not all: our team was also chosen as the most inspiring team because of their enormous enthusiasm. Proud of the students, proud of Agile Consulting, proud of our business school, proud of our university!
